Retreading

Initial Inspection

First, your casings are put through a vigorous inspection to ensure that they meet the retreading standards. Our inspectors look every imperfection in the tire. Repairs are made with strong, flexible Bandag repair materials.

Buffing

Buffing removes the old tread design. The tire is buffed to ensure a smoother running retread to satisfy your drivers and reduce the maintenance on the vehicle.

Repairs

Bandag repair materials are very strong and flexible. With current technologies, we can remove nail holes, crown injuries, and sidewall injuries can be removed routinely. You save more valuable casings.

Building

Cushion Gum (the adhesive layer) is applied to the back of the Bandag tread. Tread rubber and cushion are applied to the tire when it is inflated to its natural running state. Cushion gum bonds the tough Bandag tread rubber to your casing. This bond becomes one of the strongest parts of the tire.

Curing

Bandag bonds new tread rubber to your original casing using a low curing temperature. Your tire is encased in a flexible rubber envelope and placed in a pressure chamber to prevent distortion. No excessive heat or rigid metal molds means your casings avoid stress associated with other retreading processes.

Final Inspection

Every Bandag retread we produce is thoroughly inspected before it leaves our shop. The last place we want to discover a problem with one of our tires is after it leaves our shop.
